Comment from gTLD Registries Constituency on Policy For Allocation of IPv4 Blocks to Regional Internet Registries

The GNSO gTLD Registry Constituency would like to communicate its support of the Policy for Allocation of IPv4 Blocks to Regional Internet Registries along with one suggestion. The suggestion relates to the second sentence of the first paragraph of Section 4:"The IANA will also make announcements to all other RIRs, informing them of the recent allocation."

Situations have arisen in the past indicating the need to inform TLD registries of IP block allocations for the purpose of proactively ensuring that TLD registries can remove any address blocking of IP numbers in the allocated block that may be occurring. To ensure this happens, we recommend that the sentence quoted above be changed to read something like this: "The IANA will also make announcements to all other RIRs and to TLD registries, informing them of the recent allocation."

Thank you for the efforts put forth to create this policy and for the opportunity to comment. If we can be of further assistance in this matter, please feel free to let us know.

Respectfully,

Marie Zitkova
Chair, gTLD Registries Constituency
